You always hear the term "Morning Person." You also always hear the phrase "Night Owl." But what about Afternoon people?
We all know morning people. Eggs and coffee loving, newspaper reading, sunrise workout folk who just love getting a million things done before noon. That's all well and good. Quite frankly, these people are amazing to me.
We also all know night owls. The guys and gals that can stay up until three in the morning without any sign of fatigue. (While we're here is 'night owl' really a neccesary term? Aren't all owls night owls? Couldn't we just go with 'the owls?' Until there is a speces of owls that don't all chill and hang out at night, i'm pretty sure we can just start calling people that stay up late owls.)
But there is such a thing as being an afternoon person. These are the people that just love sleeping. If its before noon I call it a success if I don't accidententally piss on the toilet seat, crash my car falling asleep behind the wheel and getting through one-half of a newspaper article. If its past midnight I start to get cranky. And a cranky TomO is a bad TomO.
But in the afternoon - (to quote commentator Derek, and probably others...) "ooooh baby." A shit-ton gets done in that little stretch. We need a name for us who are like this. Afternooners? Afternoon Alligators? (Alligators seem like they get most of their vicious attacks done mid-day.) Something. Suggestions can be taken in the comments. But for now, lets just label us underrated.
VERDICT:
UNDERRATED

Wait, what happened? I just woke up.
ReplyDelete...I get it!
ReplyDeleteIf you are productive in the afternoon you obviously don't work for a corporation where this time is spent, a la "Office Space", spacing out while staring at your computer screen while simultaneously figuring out the earliest you could leave without the boss noticing.
ReplyDeleteBut Jeremy - Isn't coming up with a cunning scheme to get out of work early, work in and of itself?
ReplyDeleteYes I guess it is, but ultimately it leads to the greater good (getting to happy hour earlier)
ReplyDeleteit's beer-thirty somwhere...
ReplyDeleteTo answer the question- "afternoon delighters" (hehe)
