Aaaah Kelly Kapowski.So many things to like about Miss Kapowski.
Captain of the Cheerleading team. Probably voted nicest girl in school. Pretty sure she was an athlete of some kind. Rocking the high blue jeans/short shirt like no other girl before or after her. She just really has her life together. Beauty and Brains.
Way cooler than that whiny femminist Jessie Spanno (who winds up topless in a few years.)
Slightly cooler than that superficial bitch Lisa Turtle. (who based on pure looks is quite underrated, but I couldn't stand the way she walked all over poor Screech.)
Kelly Kapowski was the IT girl of all IT girls.
Not bad for a Polish girl living in Rich-Ville California. Her parents probably worked two jobs each to keep her at that yuppie rich palace known as Bayside...probably had to clean the houses of her classmates.
If it was any other girl in the world it wouldn't make any sense why Zach and Slater used to fight over her when there was a perfectly acceptable Lisa/Jessie just dying for some action. But you know what? Kelly Kapowski is worth fighting for friends. She's worth it.

VERDICT:
UNDERRATED
Few things to add, first of all, she played volleyball, second of all, her family did have money problems, at one point her dad lost his job, and Kelly could not afford to buy a dress for the dance (prompting Zach to set up a picnic for the two of them outside of the gym, complete with stolen cake and the ability to hear the music coming from the dance). Come on Tom, do your research.

That being said...despite her family's money problems she's still the most successful fictional Polish character in cheesy tv sitcom history

I agree Kelly is the go to girl but you have to give some credit for Jesse Spano in the "I'm so excited" episode. Saw a drag queen imitate that scene, priceless.

That would be a good halloween costume. Dress up like Jesse Spano circa 1991 and pop pills all night, then when you get good and drunk reinact that scene.
