Naps

There are those among us who love to Nap. Garfield, the elderly, the unemployed, my father, etc. The advocates of snoozing claim that a quick nap at some point during the day is good way to revitalize both the body and mind if the subject is feeling groggy or sleep deprived.

I am here today to tell you that those people are wrong.

Never in my life have I been able to take a successful, refreshing nap. Over the years, I have tried and tried to take part in this time honored tradition. It just doesn't work. I wake up from a nap feeling worse than I did before I started. I'm tired, disoriented, and grouchy. All I want to do is go back to sleep.

Lot's of people nap during long solo car trips, waking from their slumber alert and ready to take the wheel. If I were to nap during a long drive, I would wake up, take the wheel, and promptly put the car headfirst into a tree. If I took a nap at work, I would end up sleeping for at least an hour, and getting drool all over my shirt/desk/computer, what have you. If I am at home, and take a quick nap in my bed, I will wake up four hours later, with no idea of the time, or where I am, or what the hell happened, or why it is dark outside.

I just can't do it.

Now, Maybe there is something wrong with me. Or more likely, maybe there is something wrong with naps.

VERDICT:

OVERRATED
